When we bought our home we knew we were going to remodel. It's a relatively small house (2100 feet) but the configuration made it seem even smaller. It was built in 1964 and almost nothing about it was right. Teeny tiny bathrooms. Small kitchen. Dated wood paneling. Tiny area for laundry. An enclosed patio that had exterior siding for the interior walls. Terribly insulated. Walls needed removing...it needed to be gutted. You get the picture.
I found GuiDenby on Houzz and met with Allyson and Robb along with a few other architects and contractors. I really liked one of their previous projects (Maverick) that was along the lines of what we were looking for (farmhouse style). I loved that they were a design build firm...having a separate architect and contractor seemed like a lot of moving parts to me...even though I know that's how things usually work. For me, never having gone through a remodel before, having everything under one roof just simplified things.
Allyson took all of our ideas and needs/wants/desires and came up with four different floor plan options. We selected one and then made some changes from there. She also looked at my ideabooks from Houzz to get a sense of the style and look that we were after. She even helped narrow down the infinite number of items we needed to decide on (lighting, plumbing fixtures, tile, etc) which was super helpful
I was incredibly impressed by their team: everyone from the guys doing the demo work, to the framers, to the finish carpenters were easy to talk to and very courteous. Lannie kept the ship moving forward at all times and was very responsive to my questions and any changes we wanted to make mid flight (there were a few of those!) Which circles back to the design build side of things. It was so nice to have the architect in house...really kept things moving smoothly and streamlined communication. There are so many moving parts with a whole house remodel and there are so many horror stories out there...I am incredibly grateful to have found GuiDenby for our project. I couldn't be happier with the process and the final result. It's truly hard to believe this is the same house.

Thanks for the kind words, Nicki! We loved working with you and are so happy to see you enjoying the transformation of your home!
I contacted GiuDenby Inc. to remodel a bathroom in my house after being involved with them in a total remodel of a kitchen. After an onsite inspection, they gave design suggestions and we agreed on a floor plan to be used. The original bathroom was gutted to the studs at the end of May 2015. Construction was started the day after Memorial Day. The design included all new electrical, water and drain piping, tile shower and heated floor, new vanity cabinet with granite counter top, and new sink and toilet. All of this was accomplished by July 15, 2015, through the total cooperation of all of the subcontractors that were hired by GuiDenby, Inc. This was a deadline that I had requested when the work began, and their staff and subs worked to make it happen! We are extremely pleased with the beautiful new bathroom they built!!

Thank you! We're glad you are enjoying your new bathroom!
We hired GuiDenby, Inc. for design and construction work on a remodel of our 1953 home. The 4-month long project included combining the living room and kitchen; pushing out an exterior wall to gain additional square footage in the living room; raising the ceiling in the living room and adding collar ties which made the space feel much larger; and restoration of original hardwood floors.
From start to finish, the team was wonderful to work with. Allyson quickly got a sense of our like's and dislike's and helped guide us through the design portion of the remodel, being mindful of our budget. Since GuiDenby is a design-build firm, having the architect work alongside the construction side of the project ensured this was a smooth process and our vision of the project was implemented.
The construction side of the remodel was likewise a good experience - Lannie and the team were transparent about the various stages of the project and kept us posted on progress all along, including a project calendar and photos of the work. Since our house is a bit older that had dated plumbing and electrical work, the GuiDenby team had done its homework on the front end in determining what could be expected once the demo started. Ultimately, this resulted in very few change orders - almost all of which we requested. On top of it all, the team finished the remodel within the projected time frame.
We'd recommend GuiDenby to anyone looking to do remodel work. Friendly customer service, excellent design work, and quality construction. This was the first of two phases, and we intend to stick with GuiDenby when we're ready for the next project.

Gui Denby has been an incredible group to work with over the past year of having been both their tenant as well as contracting them to do work on my house! I have been blown away by their attention to detail, their consideration of my budget concerns providing me with workable solutions, and their wonderful friendliness that has set me at ease in the stress that comes along with such changes. I am so incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to work with both Allyson, Robb, and the entire Gui Denby group. They are incredibly professional, and they have helped me to stay in integrity with my vision of my own business as it manifests into life with the aid of their guidance on remodeling, color changes, and making the spaces I have to work with aesthetically pleasing AND practical.

GuiDenby, Inc. was the company we wanted to use for our complete kitchen remodel and to enclose a small patio to be used as the pantry and laundry room (to get the washer & dryer up from the basement). We knew that they have done several remodeling jobs in our old established neighborhood with most of the homes being built in the 1940s - our home was built in 1944. And we knew that they were familiar with the surprises that can be found in remodeling old homes. Allyson Wong, one of the owners of GuiDenby, Inc. and the architect helped us so much in getting ideas on paper and then helping us narrow the ideas and plans down to the one we used. We were able to update everything in the kitchen but maintain the look of the kitchen in keeping with the 1940s era. We are totally pleased with the outcome and are enjoying our new kitchen and pantry/laundry room ever so much - everything turned out just as we had envisioned and I had dreamed about since buying the house in August of 1991. The project was started on November 11, 2013 and we were moving into the new kitchen etc. on February 12, 2014. From the very beginning to the end every person who came to work on our project was very professional, knowledgeable in their field, and always a joy to have working on our project plus they were all so good about cleaning up at the end of each day. We took out a wall between the kitchen and dining room to make one large kitchen - the wall was load bearing so the ceilings in the kitchen and dining room had to be totally taken down in order to put a new beam running east and west the full length of the new kitchen. The new expanse of ceiling shows no dips at all - they did a beautiful job. The enclosed patio makes a wonderful laundry room and pantry and they did a beautiful job of matching the old red brick on the outside of our house so the new room does not look like and add on. They were even able to make the opening (where a window was taken out) into this new room arched to match the other 3 arches in our old home. The project manager did a perfect job of keeping our project going through the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years holidays - no easy task I am sure. We have recommended GuiDenby, Inc. to other people who have walked by and come in to see the new kitchen. We would use GuiDenby, Inc. on any other remodeling we might do to our home.

GuiDenby is one of my favorite clients of my tile showroom.
Allyson, the architect of this design/build duo, has a remarkable talent for blending commodity and specialty materials all while staying on budget and creating beautiful design. Always one of my favorite collaborations as she can determine the taste, style and budget of their clients, convey that to me via drawings and photos, and from there we can make the tile selections.
Allyson, Rob and their team are true professionals and are an excellent choice to help navigate a remodel or new construction project.
