Unbelievable miscommunication lead to so many issues including:
- incorrect grout colors placed
- tiles laid in patterns that were not approved
- missing personal belongings (fireplace key & lighter)
- grout that chipped leaving massive holes and uneven pattern
- light installed in ceiling where it was not approved
- dimmer lights that were wired incorrectly where they would flash brightly then dim
- shower hot/cold controls installed in reverse
- dumping grout water in lawn that hardened like cement (they did this multiple times and once after we asked them not to)
The list goes on. Some of these issues were corrected, some we decided to leave as is because we wanted to complete the already delayed project to move into our home.
During the latest issue where the original grout laid was chipping and uneven (after 3 months) KR was kind enough to get the sub contractors back out to remove all the bad grout and replace it with correctly mixed/laid grout. On the day the sub contractor was supposed to finish the job (7:30am on a Saturday) he never showed. At around 8:30am I called the project manager at KR to see what was happening. He did not answer and hasn't responded to this day (2 weeks later). So I ended up calling the sub contracted company to reschedule the appointment myself. Really unprofessional of KR.
My biggest advise to people looking to do home renovations is to find sub contractors yourself. The areas we did this ourselves in went much smoother and cheaper with better quality than what KR provided. We subed out stair railings, shower doors and bathroom mirrors without KR.
However, if you decide to use KR be sure to stay on top of your project so you can catch mistakes while they're occurring so they can correct them quickly.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Kate, we're very sorry to hear you feel this way and want to clear the air. We want to clarify the issues you've listed. We strive to complete all our projects to our client's exact liking.
-We did not guaranty a finish date. We did not refuse to do a walkthrough. We went several
times and asked if things were done to the client's satisfaction, were told yes and then a new list
was sent. We continued to go back to resolve the "new" issues.
-Glitter grout was put in the tub but the amount (per mfg.) was not to the clients liking.
The joints the client wanted were tight and didn't allow a large amount of glitter.
-The grout was installed per client specifications, there was a spot on the hearth grout lines at the end of the job (before punch list completion) that the client stated was 2 different colors at which point we assessed it has accidentally been stained (possibly by the other grout color installed nearby) and we assured her that we would clean it with no problems during the punch list. This issue was resolved.
-Client chose tile layout. Upon opening the first box we found that there were tiles with unappealing patterns, the client they would be ok with this and we suggested that we could use them in less visible locations (closet). when finishing the last area, the tile subcontractor installed the last of the tile which contained these unappealing patterns in the Master Bath area. The client did not like the location so we (at our expense) removed those tiles, purchased new tiles and installed them.
-Trash in the garage; we let the client know that we needed a few days to come and gather all our materials and anything that needed to be cleaned up in their garage and we would be happy to have any of the trash that they needed thrown out (i.e. moving boxes and boxes containing new furniture, etc) As it turns out, we picked up so many broken down boxes to appease the client that it stood 2 feet over the top of the bed an extended bed pickup. Note: we assisted the client with installation of his washer and dryer and helped carry most of his overweight furniture up to the 2nd floor.
-The countertops were cut incorrectly by our subcontractor because the faucets that were in the
original countertops were still onsite and there was miscommunication when we told him the
faucets were onsite. Our subcontractor suggested to us and the client that he could create a
cover for the three holes of the original faucets and create a single hole, the client did not like
the idea, so we immediately ordered new countertops and had them recut at our expense.
-We received the approval for the sink bases prior to the countertops being cut and
installed. When the countertops were installed the sinks were attached along with the incorrect
faucets. When the decision was made to replace the incorrect countertops, the client asked if
the sinks that were installed could be returned and was told yes. Upon finding out that they
were installed and our office not knowing it was said they could be returned she was told she
would be charged. Once the discussion was relayed to the office this charge was removed.
-If the toilets were installed in the wrong locations, we were never made aware of it. The caps for
the bolts were purchased and sched. to be installed but we were told to just leave them at
the door because they would not be home for us to install them.
-We were made aware that the fireplace key and long lighter had been miss placed during construction at which time we assured them that we would replace them ASAP, to which the client it was not necessary.
-We were asked to get quotes for stair railing. We contacted 4 subcontractors
and asked for proposals on the style of railings the client wanted. After many calls we finally received 2 quotes and passed them to the client. The client thought they were too expensive and got a family member to provide railing.
-We ordered 2 shower doors from one of our glass contractors. After they were delivered and
going to be installed we found that they were manufactured wrong. Our superintendent
suggested we contact a glass company that he had used previously. This ended up being the
same company the client was using for mirrors on the project. The 15% charge the client is
referring to is the overhead it costs to meet with the sub, make sure all their licensing,
insurance etc. are in order, pay for the material, schedule installation & warranty the work.
This is standard in the industry.
-Again, we ordered, handled, paid for and coordinated all the tile
Materials. When there was need for an additional amount above the allowance provided we
asked for 10% for the overhead of the material, once the client said they did not understand we
removed the overhead because of some of the issues on the project.
-We replaced tiles that the client said were unacceptable.
-Our tile sub did dump his water bucket in the grass. Our guys cleaned this.
-Since this project, we have used additional tile subs. - Don C.West Covina, CA010Dec 11, 2017
I own a shopping center in the Las Vegas area. And I have used KR construction to remodel the units for my new tenants. Keith, the owner, is very easy and honorable to work with. Their workmanship is very good, they communicate on a regular basis, and their work has come in on the budget they promised. I always get multiple bids on the sizable jobs I do. And, they have always been my best priced bid. If you are looking for a good contractor for work at your property, I would highly recommend Keith and KR construction.

This company was recommended to me through a family member and I couldn't be happier with their work! They were completely professional, showed up on time and did an outstanding job! I will definitely be using them again.

Do not use! Very nice in the beginning but doesn't return calls when things go wrong over and over and over again. Did an ok job on 80% but the 20% is unacceptable and they will not acknowledge it. Now I'm having to hire someone else to fix their problems costing me a lot of money.

It is a failure of a business to receive 1 star from a customer. It is a business decision to care more about keeping every dollar rather than caring about the human being.
I hired K R Construction to supervise the building of my house. Kevin Roberts promised that he or his assistant would be at the house each day and make sure everything was done properly. He was rarely at the house and I never saw his assistant there. We had thousands of dollars of repairs because of his lack of supervision. Kevin made changes to my house without my knowledge or permission. He did not look out for my best interest. He allowed the subs to do they wanted and the work was substandard. The electrician put the panel in the wrong place under his supervision and it costs us thousands to move it. The plumber set our all the pipes wrong (no one was there to watch for us) and we had to pay thousands to have the problem corrected. We had to change the design of our house because Kevin did not catch problems before it was too late or too costly. It was a night mare and I had to fire Kevin Roberts half way thru the building of our house. But I did so too late, as we progressed in completing the house more problems and costs arose from his lack of supervision. I cannot state how bad it was. Walls were wrong, window openings were wrong, it was up to me to point out all the mistakes. Some problems I didn't catch until after the house was finish. Some of the problems were too costly to fix properly, so I had to accept the substandard work. In addition to the money that we lost because of this company, his errors and lack of supervision caused us many long delays. It took over 2 years to finish the house. Our house was exposed to the elements during this time which created even more problems. Each step forward was a battle. He has refused to repair the work that this company did. I blame K R Construction for the disaster that was supposed to be my dream house.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
