Wood pallets and containers are reusable, repairable, recyclable and made from a renewable resource.
Wooden pallets comprise 93% of the entire world pallet market because they are rigid, durable, functional, safe and cost-effective.
Pallets and containers use derivative lumber that is strong and durable but has low cosmetic value. It would likely be discarded if it were not for wood packaging usage.
The waste produced in making pallets and the material from pallets no longer able to be repaired is turned into useful, marketable products such as playground mulch, animal bedding, and wood stove pellets.
If a pallet does end up in a landfill, it is biodegradable. Less than 3% of the nearly 700 million pallets manufactured and repaired ever end up in landfills. That’s according to a study by Virginia Tech and the USDA Forestry Service. | Member Since: 2017
